Virginia Tanton

Virginia Lee York Tanton entered this world on January 1, 1926 in Rains county and she entered heaven on March 16th, 2013. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 57 years, Buford Arvis Tanton, her father, Ralph York and her mother, Eva Fitzgerald York. She is survived by her son Arvis Lee Tanton and wife Sheila Baxley Tanton, and daughter Sondra Gail Gable and husband Michael Gable; Four grandchildren Jennifer Gable Bobadilla and husband Mel Bobadilla, Dr. Philip Arvis Gable and wife Savannah Gable, Sharla Tanton Campbell and husband John Campbell, and Shandra Tanton Dunn and husband David Dunn; great grandchildren Elise Kaelyn Bobadilla, Andrew Odell Campbell and Elayna Gail Bobadilla. Her family was her pride and joy. She leaves behind many much loved friends from Davis Street Baptist Church and Carriage House Manor nursing home where she lived and kept medical records. She was a long time member there and her faith never waivered despite many health difficulties; she was confident in her powerful savior Jesus Christ.
She worked as a bookkeeper and for many years had Tanton's Tax Service in Yantis.
Pallbearers are Wendy Ugalde, Bianca Miles, Isabell Munoz, Dee Williams, Dora Saldivar, Patrice Ivery, Rev. Jim Henry and Rev. Andy Comer.
Funeral services will be held at Davis Street Baptist Church at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 19 with Revs. Jerry Griffin and Tommy Hall officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Cemetery in Rains County. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on March 18 at Tapp Funeral Home.

Virginia Lee York Tanton entered this world on January 1, 1926 and entered Heaven on March 16, 2013. She died at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Davis Street Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry Griffin and Tommy Hall officiating. Pallbearers are Wendy Ugalde, Biankah Miles, Dee Williams, Dora Saldivar, Isabel Munoz, Patrice Ivery, Rev. Jim Henry and Rev. Andy Comer. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Allen, Charles Richardson, Lloyd Chester and John Hadley. Burial will follow at Elm Cemetery in Rains County. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Monday, March 18, at Tapp Funeral Home.
She was born in Rains County, the daughter of Ralph York and Eva Fitzgerald York. She married Buford Arvis Tanton on September 5, 1944 in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death in 2002 after 57 years of marriage.
Mrs. Tanton was a bookkeeper. For many years she had Tanton Tax Service in Yantis. For the past 10 years she was Medical Records Clerk at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home. She loved her Lord, her family, playing cards and dominoes, flowers and traveling. She leaves behind many friends at Davis St. Baptist Church, where she was a long-time member, and at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Tanton is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Arvis Lee and Sheila Baxley Tanton of Sulphur Springs; daughter and son-in-law Sondra Gail Tanton Gable and Michael Gable of Richardson; four grandchildren, Jennifer Elise Gable Bobadilla of Richardson and husband Mel Bobadilla, Dr. Philip Arvis Gable and wife Savannah Gable of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Sharla Tanton Campbell and husband John Campbell and Shandra Tanton Dunn and husband David Dunn of Sulphur Springs; three great grandchildren, Elise Kaelyn and Elayna Gail Bobadilla and Andrew Odell Campbell
