Troy E Rose

Graveside service for Troy Elmer Rose will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. at Woodland Cemetery with Dr. David Rose officiating. Visitation will be held at Tapp Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M.

Troy Elmer Rose of Sulphur Springs, Texas passed from this world on September 25, 2026. He was born on April 22, 1931, to Edwin Elmer (Bud) and Alma Berta (Pugh) Rose. Troy graduated from Pickton High School in 1949. He volunteered to join the United States Air Force in 1951 and remained until 1955 when he received an Honorable Discharge as a Staff Sergeant.

After leaving the military he began working for General Motors Company in the parts distribution warehouse in 1956. He retired from GM in 1986 after 30 years.

Troy was a lifetime member of Garland Masonic Lodge #441, a longtime member of Woodmen of the World, as well as a lifetime member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pickton, where he attended church in a wagon as a child, and he helped build the Family Life Center building.

Troy married Myrna (Norman) Rose in 1956 and together had 3 children. In 1997 he married Bonnie (Swain) and they remained married until her passing in February 2023.

After his retirement from General Motors, Troy began tracing his family roots and found a love of genealogy that took him across the US in search of documents, graves, and artifacts of any Rose ancestors. He traced the Rose family back numerous generations. He also published a booklet “The Blooming of the Roses” which is a detailed story of the Rose Family.

In addition to genealogy, Troy maintained the original family homestead in Pickton and raised cattle and baby dairy calves for many years. He also is known for having a prosperous garden each year.

After his marriage to Bonnie, he sold the farm and moved to Sulphur Springs and remained there until his death.

Troy is survived by his sons Bobby (Laurie) and Billy Rose; daughter Betty Bell (Louis Tallant); sister Faye Holcomb; sisters-in-law Kay Rose & Peggy Price; and brother-in-law Kennth Crump (Zee), his grandchildren Chris Bell, Travis Rose (Lauren), Ashley Rose Tabb (Jason), Justin Rose, Anneka Swain, and Miranda Swain (Matt Keneson); four great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Elmer and Alma Berta (Pugh) Rose; wives, Myrna and Bonnie; brothers Carl Wayne, Robert and Edwin Eugene (Gene); and sister-in-law, Joy.
