Funeral services for Mary Katherine "Cat" Young, age 91 of Sulphur Springs will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Tapp Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Mahoney Cemetery with Austin Rodriguez, Ronald Squirrel Wills, Danny Cavanaugh, Jay McClung, Dubby Henton, and Jimmy Barrett serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tapp Funeral Home.
Mary Katherine Young passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at Carriage House Manor. She was born in Birthright, TX on July 12, 1921 the daughter of Wille Welch and Annie Lee Douglas Smith. She married Guy Earnest Young in Dike, TX on September 4, 1940. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1944 serving in WWII.
Survivors include: son, Earnest Young, and wife, LaJuana; grandchildren, Tracy Rodriguez and Carla Walters; great-grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Rodriguez, Kaci, Lucy, and Luke Walters; sister, Janie Pearl Chapman, of Grand Praire; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Willie Smith, Mervin Chester, and Roy A. Chester; sisters, Gracie Holder, Leano Fletcher, and Georgia Davis.
