Jody Thompson was born the son of Johnny Thompson and Sharon (Lacefield) Ball on August 24, 1969 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Jody worked for Anchor Plumbing.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon Ball; brothers, Robery Newbry, Cameron Ivory, and Eli Thompson; and sisters, Tatia “Margaret” and Tiffany Shelton.

Jody was preceded in death by his father; brother, Luther Thompson; and step-mother, Patricia Thompson.
