Helen Weir

Funeral services for Helen Julia Weir, age 90, of Sulphur Springs have been scheduled for Tuesday, December 18,2012 at 2:00PM at Tira Methodist Church with Rev. LeRoy Reaves, Rev. C.J. Duffey, and Ed Dodd officiating. Interment will follow in Tira Cemetery with Robert Dodd, Brad Dodd, Danny Moss, Michael McNiel, Lee Moore, Micheal Waggoner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Weir, Joe Vicars, Trenton Dodd, and Dakota Weir. A visitation will be held on Monday evening, December 12, 2012 at Tapp Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
Helen Julia Weir was born on December 31, 1921 in Flushing, NY, the daughter of Oscar and Ellen (Puckhaber) Olsen. She was raised by Perry and Modena Flippin of the Nelta Community. She married Robert Herman Weir Sr. in Mt. Vernon, TX on October 10, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1993. She was a nurses aide and a homemaker. Mrs. Weir passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her residence.
Survivors include daughters, Jane Rose Prahl, and husband, Von, of Daingerfield, Joyce N. Dodd, and husband, William, of Sulphur Springs, Mary Helen Atwood, and husband, Dennis, of Sulphur Springs; son, Robert Herman Weir Jr., and wife, Yvonne, of Sulphur Springs; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great -grandchildren, five great-great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Flippin, Welch Flippin, Herbert Olsen, and Bill Puckhaber; sisters, Anna Saunders, and Ruth Ward Larson.
