Gysbertus "Bert" Hoppenreys

Memorial Service for Gysbertus “Bert” Hoppenreys, age 66 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Victor Hernandez officiating. Mr. Hoppenreys passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at his residence.

Gysbertus “Bert” Hoppenreys was born on January 4, 1960 in Elst Holland in the Netherlands to Gysbertus Hoppenreys and Maria Johanna Wilhelmina (Brower) Hoppenreys.

He moved to Texas at the age of twenty-two. He worked at Michelin for twenty years. He started his dairy farm in 2003 and retired in 2025 with some beef cows. He was a hardworking steward of land and animals. Bert would do anything for anybody.

Gysbertus “Bert” Hoppenreys is survived by his son, Thomas Hoppenreys of Plano, Texas; daughter, Jacqueline Hoppenreys of Houston, Texas;  and one grandson, Elijah Hoppenreys of Houston, Texas; brother, Heimerich Hoppenreys of Longview, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gysbertus and Maria Johanna Wilhelmina (Brower) Hoppenreys; brother, Co Hoppenreys; sister, Ria Leenders.
