Funeral services for Eugene Harper, of Como, will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, December 5th, 2009 at the Independent Baptist Church, Sandfield Community of East Texas, with Rev. Quincy C. Garcia officiating.

Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday Evening at Tapp Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Independent Cemetery with Chris Wright, Danny Harper, Zachary Harper, Anthony Sharper, Troy Harper, and Edward Harper serving as pallbearers. Cedric Harper, Anwar Singleton, Hersean Lewis, Darius Smith, and Leroy Ford will serve as Honorary pallbearers.

Eugene Harper was born November 15, 1945 in Hopkins County, Texas; the son of Ollie V. Harper and Bennie Mae Harris Harper. He marries Gloria Fuller in 1968 in Dallas. He was a butcher, cattle and horse rancher, and gardener, especially known for his peas.

Mr. Harper passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.

He leaves to cherish his memories one son Steve Harper of Dallas and brothers: Lyndoll Harper and wife Bobbie of Dallas, Charles Harper and wife Debra of Ft. Worth, Bobby Harper and wife Emma of Quitman, Arnold Harper of Sulphur Springs, Glen Harper and wife Shelia of Como,Howard Harper and wife Carla of Sulphur Springs; sisters: Joyce H. Harper and husband Clyde of Dallas, Mary Stribling of Como, and Lou Ann Wright and husband Walter of Winnsboro, one grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
