Dorothy White

Dorothy Nell Godbolt was born on January 6, 1947 to Wister Godbolt Sr. and Marie Bowser Godbolt. She was the third child born to this union. Dorothy became a member of Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Christ at an early age. She was a graduate of Douglas High School. In 1969, she was united in marriage to Harold Wright. To this union, 3 children were added; Kerry (Tammy), Johnny (Shaletha), and Andrea Denise (Eric). During this time, Dorothy became a member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and served as the 1st lady for several congregations.
Dorothy was employed by Cannon Craft Co., H.D. Lee Co., Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, SSISD, and Alliance Bank. She had many fond memories of the people that she encountered during her working career.
Dorothy later married Thomas J. White, who preceded her in death. Dorothy reunited with Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Christ in 2005. She served as a faithful member of the Senior Sunday class and other organizations until her health failed.
On November 27,, 2013, God called her home to be reunited with loved ones gone on before her. Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children, and her special goddaughter Ferdelle Freeman (Bobby), five sisters; Clydie Mae Boyd, Mae Dell Greenwood, Jackie Jackson (Leonard), Dollie Kelly, and Pat Godbolt-Morgan, three brothers; Wister Jr. (Dorothy), Ricky (Anita), and David. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren; Jeromy Donahue, Shawana Wooten, Andrew Wooten, Brandy Smith, Dadrian Smith, DeAndre` Wright, Kerie Wright, Ebony Wright, Kadarian Wright, Christopher Johnson, Samira Younger, Jonathan Wright, Jayla Wright, Devin King, Arbrie King, and Alexander King. She also leaves 5 great grandchildren, 1 aunt, Dorothy Bowser Walker, and a host of in- laws, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, 3 brothers; Odell, Jewerl and Dewerl Godbolt, and three sisters; Doris and Carla Godbolt, and Elizabeth Ann Clayton, and 1 grand daughter, Mallory Carey .

Funeral Services for Dorothy Godbolt White will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Mitchell Chapel Church of God with Supt. Nelson Gatlin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery with Roderick Godbolt, Broderick Godbolt, Brian Kellly, Keith Clayton, Jeromy Donahue, and O.J. Hill serving as Pallbearers. There will be no formal visitation.
