Funeral services for Clarence Harold Richey, age 78, of Gun Barrel City, Texas, formerly of Hopkins County, will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rubin Trussell officiating. Burial will follow in the North Hopkins Cemetery with Mike Richey, Dillon Richey, Randy Conley, Mark Conley, Ronnie Dawson, and Jack Bynum serving as pallbearers. Jack Ward, Claude Brice, William Chapman and J. B. Richey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Clarence Harold Richey was born December 15, 1931 in Hopkins County, the son of Clarence Buford Richey and Alice E. Richey. He married Mary Elizabeth Chrippens in Schertz, Texas on July 3, 1965. Mrs. Richey preceded him in death in 2006. Mr. Richey was a self employed master sheet metal worker. He was of the Church of Christ faith. He loved to fish, hunt and travel.
Mr. Richey passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Home Place Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
Surviving family includes, son, Damon Richey and wife Teresa of Gun Barrel, Texas, daughter, Sabrina Mumaw and husband Chris of Mabank, Texas, grandchildren: Dillon Richey, Camri Richey, Max Mumaw and Landon Mumaw. Brother, Vaden Richey of Sulphur Springs and sister, Joy Conley of Pecan Gap, Texas also survive.
Mr. Richey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Billy Bob Richey.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am Wednesday prior to services.
Tapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made tot he American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
