Funeral services for Blanche Askew, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 7th at the East Caney Baptist Church with Rev. M. Lavelle Hendircks officiating.Burial will follow in the East Caney Cemetery with Wynton Lewis, Jerric Berry, Jaron Berry, Jordan Berry, Jameison Dial, Jason Dial and Terrence Echols serving as pallbearers.

There will be no formal visitation.

Mrs. Askew passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009 at her residence. She was born January 21, 1915 in the East Caney Community of Hopkin County, the daughter of John Henry Nash and Lucy Hodderman Nash.

surviving family includes her son Henry D. Askew and wife Ora of Woodbridge, VA, her daughter Amye Askew Smith of sulphur Springs and one sister Bertha Williams of Sallas. Grandchildren: Ashton Rush, Becky Dial, Timolin Smith, Yvonne Berry, Parchell Lewis, LaTroy Askew Sr., Henry Askew Jr., Anesha Askew, Russell Askew, Linda McQueen, Terrence Echols, Larita Kennedy and Sonja Rush also survive along with great-grandchildren; Kristopher, Jamieson and Jason Dial, Lacy Cotten and Chad Smith, Jerric, Jaron and Jordan Berry, Erica Smith, Wynton Lewis and Jayden Rush.

Mrs. Askew was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Nolan Durwood Askew and Bernard Askew, daughters; Bernett Askew and Bernadine Askew, brothers; Jasper Nash and Elec Nash, sister, Ernestine Reilly, grandchild, Martin Askew and one great-grandchild, Keshia Swilley.
